LeRoy Jones last night received the unanimous support of his party to serve another term as Democratic State Party chairman.

Jones - who also serves chair of the Essex County Democratic Committee - was a key political driver behind last year's election to the governorship of Mikie Sherrill.

LeRoy J. Jones Jr. released the following statement after being re-elected Chairman of New Jersey Democratic State Committee last night:

“2025 was a defining year for New Jersey Democrats. We elected our first female Democratic governor, grew our majority in the state assembly with districts we haven’t represented in years, and elected local leaders in towns across the state. It was an honor of a lifetime to be the chairman of the party as we accomplished what many thought was impossible. I want to thank the New Jersey Democratic State Committee for putting their confidence in me to lead as chairman for another term. We have a great foundation to build off of and 2026 will be even better as we fight to take back Congress and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

"I also want to congratulate Vice Chair Peg Schaffer, Secretary Clary Azcona-Barber, and Treasurer Shantè D. Palmer on their reelection and am looking forward to getting to work together for another term.”
