U.S. Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-3) stopped short of calling for the resignation of U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), but used the opportunity of the senior senator’s potential retrial ordeal to call on Menendez to prevail on Democrats to reopen the federal government.

“It is deeply disturbing that Senator Menendez is under such a cloud of corruption that whether or not he should resign is even a question being asked,” said the 3rd District Congressman. “It is clear that he has no plans to resign, so while he is in the United States Senate, he should do his job and vote to reopen the federal government.”
