McCarter & English Adds Grace Power to Expand its Government Affairs and Energy Capabilities

Former BPU Chief of Staff Grace Power has joined McCarter & English as a partner in the firm’s Government Affairs practice. Led by Practice Group Chair Guillermo Artiles, Power joins ranks with Bill Palatucci and Mike Maitland at a time of significant growth for the group. In 2021, McCarter more than doubled its lobbying revenue in New Jersey, earning a spot among the top 10 lobbying firms in the state and ranking second among lawyer-lobbying firms.

“Grace is extremely knowledgeable in the energy and utility industry, including renewable energy infrastructure, and will provide our clients with valuable guidance on how to effectively operate and grow in this rapidly evolving industry,” said Artiles. “Her experience with government regulators across the country gives her in-depth knowledge of people, policy, and protocol that will greatly benefit our clients, especially those in wind and solar which appear to be where our nation’s energy future lies. I’ve known Grace for many years and am ecstatic to have her on our team.”

As a high ranking staffer in the Murphy Administration and a key advisor to BPU President Joe Fiordaliso, Power provided strategic leadership to implement executive orders, legislative mandates, and policy goals. She served as Chair of the 2019 Energy Master Plan Committee, leading a multi-agency public process involving hundreds of stakeholders in government and business to develop a master plan designed to achieve 100% clean energy in the state by 2050.

Power will draw on her experiences in government, private practice, and corporate roles to help energy industry clients to engage with decision makers, advance legislative and regulatory initiatives, identify new business opportunities, and provide strategic counseling. Power previously served as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for HomeServe USA.
