Mercer Meals on Wheels CEO Montano Seeking Freeholder Seat

Mercer County native Sasa Montano of Trenton wants the vacant Mercer County Freeholder seat.

The CEO of Meals on Wheels of Mercer County, Montano received her undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College, and a graduate degree from John Hopkins University.

Early in her career she began a program called Latinas Unidas that still exists today after 25 years of serving the Latino Community.

Tennille McCoy of Hamilton is also pursuing the seat vacated by Assemblyman Toy Verrelli (D-15).

“We live in a vibrant county, full of diversity and rich traditions that make us strong and unique,” the candidate wrote to county committee members. “I believe it is time to add a diverse perspective to the County Freeholder Board representative of a voting block that needs to be fully engaged in our process. From an urban environment such as Trenton with all its challenges, to a town like Princeton whose intellectual resources abound, to some of our more rural municipalities such as Hopewell and Hamilton that reflect our many open spaces; all of them hold many opportunities and we need to work together, as one has much to offer another.

“In these times of fiscal challenges, we must also look for ways to save our limited resources to ensure that the quality of life in Mercer County is not affected going forward for our children and the future generations to come,” she added.
