Mikie Sherrill Announces Sen. Vin Gopal as Campaign Chair

Mikie Sherrill today announced Senator Vin Gopal (D-Monmouth) as Campaign Chair. Senator Gopal is part of a new generation of leaders in Trenton who, like Mikie, has won in Republican territory by building a broad coalition that includes all New Jerseyans, not just the Democratic Party.

“Mikie is a proven bipartisan leader who has a history of community service and bringing people together. Whether it is her service in the military, as a prosecutor, or as a Member of Congress, she has always put service first. We contrast that with career politician Jack Ciattarelli, who has been running for office for 40 years, unsuccessfully for Governor multiple times, and has taken every policy position possible. He has already made it clear that the only person he plans to answer to is Donald Trump, not the people of New Jersey. This election couldn't have a clearer contrast,” said Vin Gopal.

“Our campaign is full speed ahead to win in November, and we’re assembling the team to do just that. So I couldn’t be more excited to announce Senator Vin Gopal as our Campaign Chair. Vin has been a tireless supporter of our campaign in Monmouth and an important partner as I take on the bad actors that are driving up prescription drug prices. And just as I do, Vin knows what it takes to win tough races and will be an essential part of our operation to beat Jack and protect the state we all love. I’m also grateful for our Vice Chairs — Patricia, Justin, and Karin — whose talent and expertise will help build the broad coalition we need to beat Jack in November,” said Mikie Sherrill.

As Campaign Chair, Senator Gopal will head up Mikie’s fundraising efforts and be a key surrogate on the campaign trail. This announcement comes after Mikie’s commanding win in the Democratic primary, where she defied conventional wisdom of the race and outpaced her nearest competitor by more than 100,000 votes.

Mikie is also announcing Dr. Patricia Campos-Medina, Justin Dews, and Karin Elkis as her Campaign Vice Chairs.

Dr. Patricia Campos-Media is a former U.S. Senate candidate and prominent community organizer with deep experience in labor and Latino voter mobilization. During the primary election, she worked extensively to engage the Latino community across New Jersey for Mikie.

Justin Dews, an attorney, former White House Associate Counsel, and former Senior Counsel to Governor Murphy who currently serves as Chair of the New Jersey Clemency Advisory Board, is an expert on criminal justice and public policy.

Karin Elkis is the Co-Chair of the New Jersey-Israel Commission, with strong ties and a command of issues facing state government, South Jersey, and the Jewish community.
