Murphy On Bramnick’s ‘Inexperienced Dictator’ Characterization: ‘If You Think That’s Extreme, I’m Your Guy’

Responding to a comment from Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick likening him to an ‘inexperienced dictator’, Governor Murphy at his afternoon press conference listed off a number of his budgetary priorities – universal pre-k, NJ Transit, higher education access – and said ‘if you think that’s extreme, I’m your guy.  If you think that the way of doing business in Trenton is to cut one deal after another and kick the can down the road and make the next generation pay the price and push off our responsibilities today, you betcha, I’m inexperienced.  And I look forward to never, ever, being experienced in that.’

Murphy prefaced his response with a note of appreciation to Bramnick for coming to his defense after yesterday’s Star-Ledger article on his son: ‘Jon was one of the first people to offer words of support in a rough patch yesterday and I will never forget that.’

The comments came during questions by reporters at the Governor’s press conference on NJ Transit funding.
