Governor Phil Murphy: ‘I Continue to Have Confidence in John Currie’

Governor Phil Murphy reinforced his confidence in Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie, as Currie faces a challenge from Leroy Jones over who will lead the party in NJ.

Appearing in Bergen County today, Governor Phil Murphy doubled down on his support for Democratic State Committee Chairman John Currie.

The governor praised departed vice chair Lizette Delgado Polanco, gave a thumbs up to Somerset County Democratic Chair Peg Schaffer as her replacement, and again affirmed his backing of Currie for another term.

“I thank her for her service,” Murphy said of Delgado Polanco. “I want to thank her because she’s done a really good job there. Peg Schaffer is going to step up and serve as vice chair with my complete support. She is a great add. She embodies a lot of the Howard Dean in me, turning a red county to purple.”

He added, “I continue to have confidence in John Currie.”
