Murphy Orders Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Councilwoman Dwumfour

Governor Phil Murphy today ordered that U.S. and New Jersey flags fly at half-staff at all state buildings and facilities on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, to honor and remember Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour.

“It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Eunice Dwumfour,” said Governor Murphy. “Her death is a tragic loss for her family, friends, the Sayreville community, and our state. Tammy and I continue to pray for her loved ones and those who were fortunate enough to know her as they grieve during this difficult time. Our flags will fly at half-staff on Wednesday to honor her on the day of her memorial.”

From ABC News: Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour of Sayreville was shot and killed last Wednesday night.

At around 7:22 p.m., Ms. Dwumfour inside her car outside her home, with multiple gunshot wounds, officials said.

Her Nissan SUV was towed from outside her townhouse off Points of Wood Drive.

Officials say it appears she crashed the car down the street on Samuel Circle.

The Republican Councilwoman received the oath of office last year.
