Murphy ‘Worries’ about Conservative Kavanaugh Pick

ATLANTIC CITY – Although it’s not his bailiwick and he doesn’t get to vote on the matter, Governor Phil Murphy doesn’t expect to back Judge Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald J. Trump’s choice to fill a U.S. Supreme Court vacancy.

“By all accounts this is a good citizen, someone who has friends across the spectrum politically and he’s obviously very talented,” Murphy told reporters at the Golden Nugget.

That said, “The evidence is overwhelming that he is on the conservative side of the spectrum, and that worries me.”

The reaction to a Michael Aron question was Murphy’s first public reflection on Kavanagh in the wake of Trump’s announcement some 18 hours ago.
