New Jersey DNC Delegates Interact with President Biden

New Jersey delegates attended a Democratic National Committee meeting at the Gaylord Hotel at the National Harbor in Maryland tonight where they and other party leaders heard from President Joe Biden.

Extreme MAGA Republicans just don’t threaten our personal and economic rights, they embrace political violence,” said Biden, in reference to the Jan. 6, 2021 desecration of the U.S. Capitol.

“They refuse to accept the will of the people,” the President added. “They threaten our very democracy.”

DNC delegates from New Jersey included Marcia Marley, Peg Schaffer, Tonio Burgos, and Bernadette McPherson (pictured below, from left to right).

Members talked about the coming midterm elections, and the importance of mobilizing voters to protect a woman’s right to choose, under siege by the United States Supreme Court’s reversal of the Roe V. Wade decision.

For his part, the President kept much of his focus on protecting democracy itself.

“You can’t call yourself a democracy when you don’t, in fact, count the votes that people legitimately cast and count that as what you are,” said Biden, echoing remarks he made earlier in the week in Pittsburgh. “Trump and the MAGA Republicans made their choice. We can choose to build a better America or we can continue down this sliding path of oblivion to where we don’t want to go.”
