Newark’s James Lands Gig as Speight’s COS

Newark

Former Cory Booker Deputy Chief of Staff Jermaine James – at one time a chief steward of Booker’s local politics in the city of Newark and a key GOTV driver in the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary – is taking on the job of chief of staff to Assemblywoman Shanique Speight (D-29) of Newark.

James – a Booker ally going back at least to the former mayor’s (and sitting U.S. Senator’s) first run citywide in Newark – is a former Central Planning Board Commissioner.

“I am truly grateful to have a Newark Veteran join my team as the new Chief of Staff. Without a doubt, I’m confident Jermaine James will work diligently to help me and my staff serve the 29th Legislative District. With his years of experience in public housing, and the public sector, he brings forth the necessary skills needed to serve my constituents.”
