Team Passaic this evening affirmed School Board Vice President Salim Patel to fill the City Council vacancy created by the death of Zaida Polanco.

First elected to the Board of Education in 2009, Patel is a former School Board President.

He is the first South Asian ever tapped to serve on the local governing body.
