Paterson Schools To Close Until End of March

An upbeat, defiant, ebullient and feisty Governor Phil Murphy today continued to try to brand the NJ Legislature as a bubble of establishment brain trust rust, disconnected from real people and himself as a popular vanguard.

The Paterson School District announced the closing of schools starting on Tuesday through the end of March:

All staff, students and administrators should report to school on Monday, March 16th, for a
regular school day. All afterschool activities inclusive of in-school and offsite agencies
activities/programs are cancelled.

At the end of school day, packets for home instruction will be distributed for students to use
while the district is closed from Tuesday, March 17th through Tuesday, March 31st. Schools
will reopen on Wednesday, April 1st. Students MUST pick up their instructional packets and
turn them in on April 1 st in order to get credit and to receive a grade for the days schools are
closed.

For any students who cannot pick up their home instruction packets on Monday, administrators
will be at schools on Tuesday, March 17th and will have packets available for students.
Food distribution will begin on Tuesday, March 17th.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be two food distribution
sites in each of the City of Paterson’s six wards. Students and parents should go to the
distribution location closest to their residence. Depending on the number within the household, it
is recommended for parent/guardians to bring a tote bag to carry meals.
