Perth Amboy Mayoral Candidate Gonzalez Selects His Running Mates

Retired Judge Kenneth Gonzalez, candidate for Mayor of the City Perth Amboy, this week officially formed his slate as he announced his city council running mates.

Gonzalez chose local funeral director and community activist Ana Maria Zevallos and Kevin Kowitski, who self-employed as an IT Strategy and Portfolio Manager and a member of numerous local boards.

Zevallos is a long-term resident of the City of Perth Amboy and has provided funeral services in the city for well over 25 years. She is currently the owner and funeral director of the Zevallos/Skrocki Home for Funerals in Perth Amboy and previously worked as a social worker for orphanages and abandoned children in Peru. She studied social work at the University of Saint Martin of Porres. More significantly, Zevallos volunteers her time to a variety of community organizations. She currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Puerto Rican Association for Human Development, serves on the Board of Directors of the Raritan Bay YMCA, Board of Directors member of Perth Amboy Catholic Schools and serves as a government liaison officer for the Raritan Yacht Club. She also volunteers substantial time at
the Saint John Paul II Roman Catholic Parish in Perth Amboy as the Religious Education Coordinator and is a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at the Parish.

Kowitski  holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Rochester Institute of Technology, focused in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry and an Executive Masters of Business Administration degree from Quantic School of Business and Technology in Washington, D.C., concentrating in finance and executive strategy. Professionally, Kowitski serves as an enterprise leader driving strategic financial management in information technology governance for an insurance company with national reach. Over the years that he has lived in Perth Amboy, he has become an integral part of multiple boards including his service as a commissioner of the Perth Amboy Redevelopment Agency, Second Chair for the Perth Amboy Rent Leveling Board, member of the Perth Amboy Planning Board, and also serves as the Raritan Yacht Club House Chair.

Speaking of his running mates, Gonzalez stated,” I am extremely excited about the caliber of knowledge, character, and service experience of my two running mates. Having extremely qualified council members servicing the City of Perth Amboy is essential. The City Council serves as the legislative branch of government that passes all of the ordinances required to govern our city effectively. Ana Maria and Kevin are persons of excellence who have shown a  deep commitment to our city and will also demand the best from myself and my new administration.”

The three candidates have announced that they will run under the PERTH AMBOY DEMOCRATS FOR CHANGE banner and look forward to taking their campaign directly to the people of Perth Amboy.

“The three of us have spent a great deal of time together exchanging our ideas on how to make Perth Amboy a better place. Now we look forward to taking our case directly to the people of Perth Amboy via door-to-door contact and media interaction” said Zevallos.

“I am eager to share our ideas on redevelopment and business development with my fellow Perth Amboy residents. I am confident that this is the team best equipped to bring about the change needed to ensure that Perth Amboy fully realizes all of its potential.” said Kowitski.
