Pou Adding Amended Language to Select Committee on Investigations Resolution

State Senator Nellie Pou (D-35).

TRENTON – A resolution to empower the joint select committee on investigations that will examine hiring practices within the Murphy Administration will go before the Senate shortly with new clarifying language.

An amendment to the original resolution offered by state Senator Nellie Pou (D-35) makes it clearer that the review of how the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office handled the case – if necessary – will take place only after the Attorney General-directed review by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The main scope of the review will be the Murphy Administration.

After caucus discussions, this language came out:

a)the appropriateness of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s actions to oversee the handling of the allegations of sexual assault by a government official.”

The amendment in effect underscores the committee’s reliance – at least initially – on the findings of the Middlesex Prosecutor.
