Pou Demands Noem Be Fired or Impeached

Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-9), a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, today called on Donald Trump to fire Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and joined calls to impeach the disgraced cabinet secretary.

“I call on President Trump to fire Secretary Noem immediately. If he does not act, the House must begin impeachment proceedings without delay.”

Pou continued: “As a member of the Homeland Security Committee, I have supported DHS’s intended mission to protect our nation. But under Secretary Kristi Noem, the department has prioritized political interests over public safety while retaliating against states like New Jersey and terrorizing American cities – a betrayal of its founding purpose. The nation has borne witness to the senseless killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti, and the cruel detention of children like Liam Conejo Ramos, all while federal agents escape accountability. DHS’s abuses are visible. Noem’s failures and betrayal of American values are undeniable.

As a member of the Homeland Security panel, Congresswoman Pou has been a long-running critic of Noem’s leadership. On October 14, 2025, Pou led 11 members of New Jersey’s congressional delegation calling on Noem to restore federal security grant funding that is being slashed by the Trump administration by nearly 50 percent. Last week, Congresswoman Pou signed on to a letter demanding that Secretary Noem answer questions about deaths under CBP and ICE custody.

At an oversight hearing on May 14, 2025, Pou confronted Noem, telling her, “You are actually breaking the law.”
