The law firm of Stark & Stark announced it has obtained a settlement of $2.3 million for a 53-year-old woman who suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Asbury Park. The woman’s vehicle was suddenly struck by a van from behind in a southbound Main Street lane, causing it to hit the vehicle in front of her.

The victim, who resides in Millington (Morris County), was represented by Bruce Stern, Esq., a shareholder with Stark & Stark, headquartered in Lawrenceville. Mr. Stern is a member of Stark & Stark’s Accident & Personal Injury practice.

Prior to the May 2017 accident, the woman, an insurance executive, was the lead earner for her family, but she has been unable to work since the crash. The accident and traumatic brain injury impacts her spinal cord, nerves and cognitive functions, causing her to suffer from continuous neck pain, depression, sensitivity to noise, headaches, vomiting, visual disturbances and other debilitative effects. She has needed to undergo cognitive and behavioral psychotherapy and neuro-psychological testing, MRIs, CT scans, as well as vestibular and visual therapy as a result of the brain injury.

“The victim and her family have endured tremendous suffering,” said Mr. Stern. “With this settlement, she is able to focus on her rehabilitation and coping with the aftermath of her life-altering accident.”
