Aberdeen - After a year of actively advocating for residents’ concerns on key community issues, three Aberdeen Township residents have officially declared their candidacies for Mayor and Town Council in the 2025 elections under the Aberdeen Together ticket. Mark Bishop of Cliffwood Beach will be running for Mayor, while Lauren Ramos of Cliffwood and Michael LaCorte of Strathmore will be seeking election to the Town Council. The candidates have successfully filed the necessary signatures with the Aberdeen Clerk and have secured endorsements from both the Aberdeen and Monmouth County Republican Committees.
With longtime Democratic Mayor Fred Tagliarini and Councilman Joseph Martucci opting not to seek re-election, the Aberdeen Together team is committed to ushering in a new era of leadership focused on accountability, transparency, and community engagement.
Mark Bishop will be at the top of the Aberdeen Together ticket seeking the mayoral spot. Bishop, a small business owner, husband, and father of two young children, is a lifelong resident of the Old Bridge-Matawan-Aberdeen area. He has overcome significant personal challenges, including a difficult upbringing marked by poverty and instability, and has built a successful seven-figure business from the ground up while raising his family in Aberdeen. His involvement in local government began with efforts to increase transparency and protect neighborhoods from unfair zoning changes. As Mayor, Bishop will work to bring honest, community-driven leadership to Aberdeen for all families.
“I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Mayor Tagliarini and Councilman Martucci for their many years of dedicated service,” said Bishop. “The Aberdeen Together team is ready to lead our town toward an even brighter future. Our goal is to bring residents from different neighborhoods, backgrounds, and political perspectives together to build a stronger, more united Aberdeen.”
Lauren Ramos, candidate for Town Council, is a dedicated mother of three sons who have attended Aberdeen’s public schools. Originally from Hoboken, she has been a proud Aberdeen resident since 2006. As a real estate professional and medical office manager for two successful surgical practices, Ramos is deeply invested in strengthening the relationship between the town and community groups, including the school board. She is passionate about fostering an environment where Aberdeen not only nurtures its next generation, but also encourages young people to return home and raise their families in Aberdeen.
“Aberdeen needs leadership that listens to its residents,” said Ramos. “That is why I am running for Town Council—to ensure that our community’s voice is heard and acted upon.”
Michael LaCorte, candidate for Town Council, is a husband and father of two daughters who have attended Aberdeen’s public schools. Originally from Brooklyn, he has been a proud Aberdeen resident since 2004. LaCorte is an experienced construction project manager and a licensed real estate agent, with extensive financial expertise spanning three decades in commodities trading. Additionally, he has demonstrated strong leadership as chairman of the Finance Committee at Our Lady of Fatima Church and through his volunteer work in various community initiatives.
“I am ready to roll up my sleeves and take action to improve the lives of Aberdeen’s residents,” said LaCorte. “That is why I am seeking the opportunity to serve as your next Councilmember.”
Republican voter registration and support have been growing in Aberdeen throughout the 2020s, with the party securing its first victories for President and U.S. Senate in many years during the 2024 election.
“As Aberdeen becomes more welcoming to Republican leadership, we now have a ticket of dedicated and capable candidates ready to lead,” said Township Republican Chair Dan Beckelman. “Our organization stands for the inclusion of all and is excited to present a positive vision for our town. We are proud to support Mark, Lauren, and Michael, and we are confident that their leadership will make a meaningful impact on Aberdeen’s future.”
The Aberdeen Together released an announcement video that has since garnered excitement for fresh leadership in Aberdeen. The ticket will be unveiling its platform on key community issues as the election progresses.
