AC Young Republicans Statement On Van Drew’s Vote On National Emergency Declaration

South Jersey’s Harry Hurley reports that Brian Fitzherbert has announced his candidacy in Congressional District 2. Last year, Fitzherbert vied for the GOP nomination in a crowded primary, but was knocked off the ballot after rival Hirsh Singh challenged his petition signature.

Atlantic County Young Republicans Chairman Brian T. Fitzherbert released the following statement in response to Congressman Van Drew’s vote against President Trump’s National Emergency Declaration at the Southern Border:

“On Tuesday, Congressman Jeff Van Drew voted with 231 Democrats in the House of Representatives to terminate President Trump’s proclamation of a national emergency to keep Americans safe and take action to secure the border. Apparently, the fact that the Southern Border has been a major entry point for unlawful migration, criminals, gang members, drugs, human traffickers, and un-vetted asylum seekers is not a good enough reason for South Jersey’s freshman Congressman to constitute an emergency.

This vote made it clear that he doesn’t believe there’s a crisis at the border, that just like Speaker Nancy Pelosi, this is a “manufactured crisis.” Tell that to Angel Moms and Dads whose children have been killed and permanently separated from their families by illegal aliens who had no right to be in the U.S. This is a perfect example of where actions speak louder than words; Congressman Van Drew’s vote is deafening.

Congressman Van Drew has posted on social media about votes he believes helps South Jersey, as well as photo-ops to appear as if he’s doing something as our new representative. However, a post on voting against President Trump’s national emergency is conspicuously absent.

The NRCC has added Congressman Van Drew to its election 2020 list. This vote is yet another reason that South Jersey deserves better.”
