After NY Supreme Court Decision, Bucco Calls on Murphy to Reinstate Workers Fired for Refusing COVID Vaccine

Senator Anthony M. Bucco released the following statement in reaction to the New York Supreme Court ruling reinstating more than 1,400 New York City employees fired for being unvaccinated, including police, firefighters, and other New York City workers:

“I applaud the New York court for getting it 100 percent right. Now New Jersey should learn from the decision on employee vaccine mandates, and anyone who was fired because of Murphy’s unjust mandates should get their jobs back.

“The arbitrary vax mandates were a bad idea from the start. Why are we still sticking by these ridiculous requirements and still punishing people when we know the shot does not stop the spread of the virus?

“In their decision, the New York court emphasized that ‘being vaccinated does not prevent an individual from contracting or transmitting COVID-19.’ We know better now. Vaccines aren’t flawless. There is no perfect solution.”
