Brigantine, NJ — Earlier today, congressional candidate for New Jersey’s second district, Amy Kennedy was joined by Chairman of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee David Cicilline (D-RI) on Connecting South Jersey Community, a virtual grassroots program providing resources and information to the community, to discuss how House Democrats are responding to COVID-19. Congressman Cicilline is a member of House leadership, a national leader on LGBTQ+ issues and has been a champion for healthcare workers and first responders since the beginning of the pandemic.

Said Kennedy “I want to thank Congressman Cicilline for joining me tonight to discuss how the House Democrats are putting aside politics to provide relief for families and small businesses desperate for help. Helping people across our country and here in South Jersey is a humanitarian imperative, not a political issue. People are suffering, they’re running out of money and food, businesses are shutting down and struggling to stay afloat. Right now, we need leaders who are willing to put partisan politics aside and make serving their community their only priority.”

Congressman Cicilline said: “House Democrats are leading the way with a legislative response that puts front line healthcare workers, small businesses and struggling families across the county first. I was happy to join Amy to discuss those priorities tonight. Her years of experience as a public school teacher and mental health advocate are exactly what we need in Congress, and I’m looking forward to her joining us in Congress next fall.

For weeks, Kennedy has been bringing in educators, law enforcement officials, mental and medical health experts to answer questions and provide guidance and resources to South Jersey amid the coronavirus pandemic.
