Annetta, Piperno, and Eulner: NJ Businesses will feel the burn from Murphy’s $250 Million Tax Hike

MONMOUTH COUNTY N.J. – New Jersey businesses continue to be kicked while they are down in the form of a $250 million hike in the unemployment insurance payroll tax. Governor Phil Murphy wants to utilize these to replenish a fund depleted by millions of pandemic unemployment claims.

Lori Annetta, who is running for State Senate in the 11th Legislative District, along with Marilyn Piperno and Kim Eulner, both currently running for Assembly in the 11th Legislative District, slam Murphy’s business tax hike that was issued late Friday while the Governor was vacationing at his Italian estate.

“How could anyone be more callous?” said Lori Annetta.  “This unnecessary tax hike is going to be a job killer for businesses in agony.  Our businesses have suffered enough under this Governor’s disastrous policies.  This is like adding insult to injury.”

“This is just more of the same mismanagement we have come to expect from the Murphy administration, and his counterparts in the legislature,” said Marilyn Piperno. “And, Democrats Vin Gopal, Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey sit back and let it all happen.  When we are elected, we will stand up for our business owners.”

“It’s been crickets from Gopal, Houghtaling and Downey, as our businesses in New Jersey continue to suffer,” said Eulner. “Gopal, Houghtaling and Downey don’t stand with the people of Monmouth County and the people of New Jersey. It’s time for new leaders who will right the ship.”
