Five Distinguished New Jersey Women to be Recognized for Dedication and Leadership within the New Jersey Democratic Committee with Annual Awards Ceremony on Thursday, October 14 at Forsgate Country Club
Senator Loretta Weinberg and NJFDW Essex President Bessie Walker are to be honored with separate Lifetime Achievement and Contribution Awards.
Newark, NJ – September 10, 2021 – New Jersey Federation of Democratic Women (NJFDW), the state chapter of the National Federation of Democratic Women announced today its 2021 Honorees – an extraordinary group of New Jersey leaders who strongly represent Democratic values and uplift women in the Democratic party. NJFDW is a nationally recognized organization supporting the Democratic party and uplifting policy agendas and candidates that benefit women. This year’s recipients have each led high-impact programs in health, education, protection, humanitarianism, and more. NJFDW will honor the recipients at their annual awards ceremony on Thursday, October 14 at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe (Middlesex county).
“This year, we have the privilege of not only celebrating these groundbreaking women but uplifting the Democratic party in New Jersey as a whole,” said NJFDW President A. Burman. “I am so excited to also announce that this year we will be awarding our first Lifetime Achievement Award to Senator Loretta Weinberg in addition to our traditional awards recognizing volunteerism and elected leadership within our Democratic Party. New Jersey has hit a monumental point where we have groundbreaking women that have dedicated their lives and professional careers to Democratic causes and it is high time we recognize them for the paths they have paved.”
NJFDW nominates from around the state every year and uses a uniquely rigorous vetting process to select Honorees based on their work, contributions, policies, and commitment to the party.
This year’s Honorees include:
2021 Lifetime Achievement Honoree: Senator Loretta Weinberg
2021 Peg Roberts Honoree: NJFDW Essex President Bessie Walker
2021 Elected Official Honoree South: Senator Nilsa Cruz-Perez
2021 Elected Official Honoree Central: Councilwoman Jennifer Keyes-Maloney
2021 Elected Official Honoree North: Councilwoman Dr. October Hudley
About the New Jersey Federation of Democratic Women
The New Jersey Federation of Democratic Women (NJFDW) is an organization of extraordinary women committed to supporting each other to advance Democratic Political goals and ideals through networking, community activism, and engagement. The NJFDW operates under the umbrella of the National Federation of Democratic Women, established in 1971 as a means of supporting women’s voices within the Democratic Party.
The National Federation of Democratic Women gained official recognition from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and currently holds one seat on the DNC Executive Committee and three seats on the DNC general committee.
To date, it is the only women’s organization given that privilege.
