Assembly Candidate Jeffrey Brown Calls for Ban on Non-Disclosure Agreements for Political Campaigns

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Brunswick, NJ– District 18 Republican candidate for Assembly Jeffrey Brown released the following statement calling for a statewide ban on NDA agreements for political campaigns.  Specifically, campaigns would be unable to bar employees and volunteers from participating in legal inquiries into the campaign, or lawsuits that arise during the course of a campaign.

“Today I am calling for a statewide ban on NDA’s for political campaigns.  Governor Murphy’s campaign is in essence shutting down an investigation into Katie Brennan’s allegations of rape by refusing to allow campaign staffers, who may know critical details about this matter, from participating in ongoing civil litigation.  These gag orders continue to make women unsafe and protect wrong doers and must be disallowed by the law,” stated Brown. “Equally troubling is my opponents’ lack of leadership in this area.  If they won’t buck Phil Murphy to protect victims of sexual assault, how can they continue to be trusted to represent the residents of the 18th district?
