Assembly Telecommunications and Homeland Security Panels Bring Stakeholders, Public Utilities to Hearing to Discuss Severe Outages after Storm ISAIAS

(TRENTON)- During Tropical Storm Isaias, more than 1.4 million New Jerseyans lost power at some point during the storm. Some residents are still without sufficient information as to when their power will be restored.

To talk to stakeholders and organizations to fully understand what happened and what needs to be done to prevent widespread outages from continuing to happen, Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee Chairman Wayne DeAngelo and Assembly Homeland Security and State Preparedness Committee Chairwoman Angela McKnight will convene a joint meeting on Wednesday, August 19 at 10:00 AM.

The committees will take testimony from invited guests on electric public utility emergency response and restoration of services after major storm events, including Tropical Storm Isaias.

Due to the public health emergency, the State House Annex remains closed to visitors and the public will not be allowed to attend the meeting in person.  The public may view the meeting on the New Jersey Legislature home page at https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/.  The committees will take oral testimony from invited guests during the meeting by telephone and/or video.  Both invited guests and the public may electronically submit written testimony to: OLSAideATU@njleg.org. Written testimony will be distributed to the committee members and included in the committee record.
