Assemblyman Atkins Providing Free Haircuts & Manicures for Back to School
Atkins continues history of giving back to local residents with 8th annual back to school event

(Roselle) Assemblyman Reginald W. Atkins (D-20) and his wife, Dr. Cynthia Atkins, announced their 8th Annual Back to School Free Hair Cut and Manicure event for young people across the 20th Legislative District.

“As parents my wife and I understand firsthand the cost and time-consuming ordeal of getting kids ready to go back to school,” said Assemblyman Atkins in a statement. “The first day of school can be hair-raising enough without worrying about a bad hair day.”

The event marks the latest community service effort by the Atkins family who have provided food drives for local families including 27,000 meals in 2021, free laptops and tablets for first-time colleges, and scholarship funds for young people across the 20th legislative district.

The Free Back to School Haircut & Manicure giveaway is sponsored by Shawon Spearman and the Hair Lounge, 206 Chestnut St, Roselle, next to Roselle Borough Hall.

To RSVP and receive a voucher for a free haircut or manicure, students can go to bit.ly/atkinsbacktoschool and fill out the Google Form.

Atkins added “we want our youth to look good on the outside, feel good on the inside and be ready to strive for academic excellence from day one.”

Free haircuts and manicures will be made available to school-aged children in the 20th Legislative District through the end of August.
