Assemblyman Gordon Johnson Endorses Michael Wildes for Mayor

Former Councilman and lifelong Englewood resident joins Wildes Team

ENGLEWOOD, NJ – Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (D-37) is endorsing Michael Wildes for Mayor of Englewood in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary Election. A former Englewood Councilman and a lifelong city resident, Johnson has served in the State Assembly since 2002 following a distinguished career in public service as a police officer in Englewood and as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. Assemblyman Johnson joins several current and former members of the City Council who are all supporting Wildes for Mayor on Tuesday.

“Michael Wildes exemplifies the value of public service and I know how dedicated he is to our community, its residents and to Englewood’s future,” said Assemblyman Johnson. “I’m proud to call Michael a friend and I look forward to working closely with him as a partner in the State Legislature to help make his vision of renewing our city a reality.”

A former two term Mayor and City Council member, Michael Wildes announced his campaign for Mayor in March and he has since knocked on thousands of doors and connected with voters from throughout the city. While his opponent has run a negative campaign full of attempted character assassination and falsehoods, Wildes has campaigned positively on his vision for the city he loves.

“It’s wonderful to attract the support of someone like Gordon Johnson who has served our city and our nation honorably in so many ways, and who continues to be an incredibly valued leader in our community,” said Wildes. “Englewood is facing a financial crisis that we must act immediately to solve and having the support of our legislators and other partners in the private and public sectors will be crucial to fixing the problem. I thank Assemblyman Johnson for his support and look forward to working side by side with him to renew our city.”
