Assemblyman Ryan Peters statement on events at Capitol Hill

I spent multiple tours overseas, often with the specific mission of helping to restore democracy to people who were starved for it.  That is why it was so difficult to watch our own citizens attempt to toss aside democracy yesterday in a lawless assault on our nation’s capital.  Legal challenges to any election are part of our process.  But after those challenges fail, it’s time for us to honor the results and move our country forward.

I’ve won two incredibly close races to earn my assembly seat. In both cases, my opponents gracefully conceded when the results were final.  The President should put country before self and do the same instead of continuing to sow the seeds of division and disunity in such a dangerous way.
