(TRENTON) – On Tuesday, Governor Phil Murphy announced that Carole Johnson, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Human Services, will join the Biden-Harris Administration’s White House COVID-19 response team after January 15th.

Following the appointment, Assemblywoman Joann Downey (D- Monmouth), Chair of the Assembly Human Services Committee, issued the following statement:

“Carole Johnson has worked tirelessly to help provide food, child care programs, and mental health and addiction services for the people of New Jersey.  Her accomplishments over the last three years have been far-reaching and those endeavors are just some of the many great things she has done for our state.

“Carole’s previous role working for the Obama Administration equipped her well for this new role and gave her the experience necessary to make an immediate impact at the federal level.  I wish her all the best in her role with the Biden-Harris administration to help steer the COVID-19 response at the federal level. I am confident that Carole will continue to help all Americans the same way she improved the lives for millions in New Jersey.”
