LUMBERTON – Assemblywoman Jean Stanfield, Assemblyman Ryan Peters and their staff will participate in Pemberton’s “Clean Communities” program as part of their “District Day of Service” on May 26th.

Stanfield and Peters will be cleaning up litter and debris on the side of heavily-traveled Pemberton roadways throughout the day, Wednesday.

“Pemberton Township is filled with fantastic lakes and trees, and unfortunately, some of these areas are on major roads where people throw litter,” Stanfield commented. “We are happy to help out with the township’s clean-up efforts and want to discourage anyone who dumps their trash in such a beautiful community.”

Each month, Stanfield and Peters set aside a day to help local people within the community as part of their “District Day of Service.” Last month, the team worked with Catholic Charities of Trenton to do a day’s worth of yard work and beautify a local safe house for victims of domestic abuse. The legislators and their office have tackled senior citizen issues, food insecurity, collecting diapers for mothers in need and raising money for youth homelessness, among other things.

“We’re always looking for the next place we can help out and how we can best improve our community,” Peters said. “This is a great service opportunity that is open to everyone.”

Pemberton Township holds at least 4 formal clean up days a year, focusing on a different section of the community, but still needs help to keep areas clean in between the quarterly clean up.

Please reach out to 8th Legislative District Event Coordinator Nikki Maskell @ nmaskell@njleg.org if your organization is interested in cleaning up Pemberton Township or to be added to the volunteer list for any future “Day of Service” events.
