Mobile Broadband Expansion Will Help Give AT&T Customers and FirstNet Subscribers Better Access to Mobile Internet

BEDMINSTER, NJ, March 3, 2021 — AT&T* customers and FirstNet subscribers in New Jersey got a big boost in wireless connectivity during the past several months. We’ve added new cell sites in 10 counties to enhance the Garden State’s mobile broadband coverage and help give residents, businesses and first responders faster, more reliable wireless service. Our investment will help customers get the most out of their mobile devices.

AT&T turned on new sites that improve mobile broadband coverage and capacity in the following areas:

• Atlantic County: A new site improves coverage around the Egg Harbor Township Schools and along Zion Road, as well as parts of Route 559 Somers Point Road & English Creek Avenue.

• Burlington County: A new site provides coverage along I-295 and Route 38 around Mt. Laurel Township, and it improves in-building coverage to area businesses. Another site near Rancocas Woods provides coverage along Route 38 and Creek Road, as well as parts of I-295.

• Essex County: This new site on Central Avenue in Newark covers an area around Central Avenue, Lock Street/Wickliff Street, and James Street and Orange Street.

• Hunterdon County: A new site in Clinton provides coverage around Route 31, I-78 and Halstead Street.

• Middlesex County: A new site in Piscataway covers communities around South Washington Avenue, Old Brunswick Road, and West Hamilton Blvd. Also, in Piscataway, a new site covers an area around Quibbletown Middle School and Eisenhower Elementary School. A site in Monmouth Junction provides around South Brunswick High School. And, in Dayton, a new site provides coverage around Fresh Ponds Road, the neighborhoods around Georges Road and Ridge Road, and the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission in Dayton.

• Monmouth County: A new site in Manasquan covers an area around Route 35 and Baileys Corner Road, while a new site in Freehold provides coverage to the area around CentraState Medical Emergency.

• Morris County: This new site in Florham Park covers an area around Route 24, North Greenwood Avenue, and Ridgedale Avenue to Walnut Street. A new site in Randolph covers an area around Millbrook Avenue and Schoolhouse Road.

• Ocean County: Two new sites were turned on in the Lakewood area. The first serves customers around Lakewood Middle School and High School. Another site provides coverage around New Hampshire Avenue and the Monmouth Flying Club.

• Passaic County: Three sites were turned on in Passaic County. A new site in Clifton that provides coverage around Allwood Road, Route 3, Brighton Road and Bloomfield Avenue. A site in Ringwood provides coverage in the vicinity of Lake Erskine and Cupsaw Lake. And, a new site in Wayne provides coverage along Route 23 and Route 202.

• Somerset County: A new site in Green Brook provides coverage around Route 22, Rock Avenue and Washington Avenue. A site in Warren provides coverage along I-78 & Old Smalleytown Road around Stirling Road, Valley View Road and surrounding areas.

These upgrades will also benefit public safety and first responders on FirstNet – public safety’s dedicated communications platform which gives New Jersey’s first responders access to always-on, 24-hours-a-day priority and preemption across voice and data. FirstNet is bringing public safety communications into the 21st century with new, innovative capabilities to help those users stay safe and save lives.

These enhancements also use Band 14 spectrum. Band 14 is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane. In an emergency, this band – or lane – can be cleared and locked just for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.

FirstNet is built with AT&T in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority. It’s designed to help first responders in New Jersey and across the country connect to the critical information they need – when they need it – so they can keep themselves and the communities they serve safer.
