ATU Endorses Amy Kennedy for Congress

Brigantine, NJ — Identifying the need for a candidate to stand up for New Jersey’s working families, the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) announced their endorsement of Amy Kennedy, candidate for New Jersey’s second Congressional district earlier today.

Consisting of over 190,000 members in over 240 local unions spread across 46 states, the ATU is a steadfast advocate for workers’ rights and the maintenance of a robust, publicly funded transit system.

“I’m honored to have the support of the ATU. Public transportation is a vital resource for thousands of South Jersey’s working families, and we must ensure that we continue to invest in and expand upon our current systems,” said Amy Kennedy. “In Congress, I will fight for the infrastructure investments that will create union jobs and I will fight to defend the hard-earned benefits of workers and advocate every day for the protections they need to perform their critical duties safely.”

“COVID-19 has taken a heavy toll on our workers, and we need a fighter in Congress who will always take the side of workers over special interests” said Ray Greaves, International Vice President of ATU. “We proudly endorse Amy Kennedy, because she has a proven record of advocacy for the issues we care about: fair wages, health care and retirement security for all workers. Amy understands the importance of organized labor, and as a former union member herself, she is the right person to help us rebuild an economy that is more fair towards the working men and women of New Jersey, including our ATU Local 880 members in South Jersey.”
