BASELICE UNANIMOUSLY SELECTED TO FILL VACATED SEAT ON HUDSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – Robert P. Baselice was unanimously chosen this past Wednesday night (April 19) by the elected Democratic Committee members of County Commission District 8 to fill the seat recently vacated by Anthony P. Vainieri, Jr. on the Hudson County Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Baselice’s impressive track record as a public servant makes him the ideal candidate to fill this important position, and he brings an abundance of knowledge and experience to the role. Commissioner Baselice will serve the remainder of the current term which expires in January and is running in the June primary election on the Hudson County Democratic Organization team for a new three year term.

 

“I am honored to be selected to serve on the Board of Commissioners and look forward to working with my fellow commissioners to make Hudson County an even better place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Commissioner Baselice. “I am grateful for the confidence that the members of the Democratic committee in North Bergen and Secaucus have shown in me and eager to begin working right away on behalf of my constituents.”

 

Graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in mathematics, Commissioner Baselice began his career working for the Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services, where he secured millions in grants for at-risk youth intervention programs. He has been the Executive Director of the North Bergen Parking Authority since 2004, guiding the agency to expand residential parking, increase the number of spaces available by over 600, and introduce state-of-the-art technology such as online permitting and license plate recognition and worked as Chief of Staff for the Hudson County Sheriff.

I wish him the best of luck in his new endeavor and am confident he and my colleagues on the County Commission Board will continue leading Hudson County forward.”

 

Baselice has served on the New Jersey Governor’s Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Committee since 2004, the New Jersey Parking Institute since 2005, the New Jersey Association of County Youth Services Administrators (twice as chairperson), the New Jersey Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative Steering Committee, the Hudson County Youth Services Commission, the Juvenile Justice Commission Executive Committee, the Hudson County Commission on Child Abuse Prevention/ Division of Youth and Family Services Advisory Board,the Jersey City Board of Education Interagency Task Force, and the North Bergen Planning Board (serving as chair for several years).
