BATTLESHIP NEW JERSEY TO RE-OPEN FOR TOURS ON SATURDAY, OCT. 3

Battleship Will Open from 11am to 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays through the End of the Year

CAMDEN WATERFRONT, NJ — The Board of Trustees of the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial announced

that the ship will re-open for tours on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 3pm, beginning Saturday, October 3.

“We are grateful to both the Legislature and Governor Murphy for seeing the importance of the Battleship New Jersey to

both our region and state, and including our nation’s most decorated battleship in the budget,” said Marshall Spevak, Chairman

of the Board of Trustees for the Battleship New Jersey. “The Battleship is one of New Jersey’s biggest tourist attractions, and

we can now have students and families back aboard to experience first-hand a national icon located right here on the Camden

Waterfront.”

The Battleship, which closed for tours after Labor Day due to the loss of revenue due to the closing of the ship’s popular

overnight, group tours and rental events programs because of the coronavirus, will offer her Fire Power self-guided tours.  The

tours include the forecastle (forward deck), 16-inch gun turrets, the navigation bridge, the Officers’ Wardroom, the interior

exhibit areas, the 52-ft. Seahawk helicopter, the fantail and more!  Guests can also add on extended free guided tours of the

Engine Room and Turret II.

The Battleship will continue to health screen all guests, staff and volunteers in the ship’s Visitors Center. Everyone must wear

a face covering and practice social distancing of one fathom – six feet – while aboard the ship, as well as when on the pier and

in the Visitors Center.

“We still want to offer safe and exciting tours to our guests,” explained Phil Rowan, CEO/Executive Director of the Battleship.

“Our cleaning crew will continue to maintain a clean tour route, and we’ll still offer hand-washing and sanitizing stations along

the tour route and in the Visitors Center.”

The Battleship will re-open with a bang!  The ship will randomly select guests on Saturday, Oct. 3, to pull the trigger and fire the

portside saluting gun.  Gun shoots will take place at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.  Guests can also fire the gun any time for a $50

donation on Saturday.

The Battleship will continue to support our troops overseas by collecting items for them.  Items can be dropped off in the

Battleship’s Visitors Center.  The Military Support Group of NJ Inc. (MSGNJ), a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, will package and ship all

items to our troops.  Items needed can be found on the Battleship’s website at

Tours of the Battleship will be available Saturdays and Sundays from 11am with the last tour departing at 3pm through the end

of the year.  Guests are encouraged to purchase tour tickets online at battleshipnewjersey.org.  Tickets will be $24.95 for adults,

$19.95 for veterans, seniors and children age 12 and older.  Tours will be limited to 10 people every 15 minutes, which will

spread out guests along the tour route to make for a safer experience.  Parking will be available along Clinton Street (GPS:

100 Clinton St., Camden, NJ).  Preferred parking will be closer to the ship for $15 per vehicle, and general parking will be $10

per vehicle.
