Benson on DOT, NJTransit & Motor Vehicle Commission Testimony to Assembly Budget Panel

(Trenton) – Assembly Transportation and Independent Authority Chair Dan Benson (D-Mercer, Middlesex) issued the following statement in regards to today’s Assembly Budget hearing. The panel received testimony from the Department of Transportation, New Jersey Transit, and the Motor Vehicle Commission.

“Throughout today’s hearing, we heard testimony about the complexities residents face on a daily basis traveling across the state for work, healthcare, and recreation.

“As New Jersey recovers from the pandemic, we must adapt to ensure our Department of Transportation and NJ Transit provides timely infrastructure investments to improve mobility throughout the state. It was clear there is still a long way to go to reach excellent customer service for drivers at the Motor Vehicles Commission.

“In addition to our Budget Committee work, we must continue to seek legislative policy solutions to these challenges.  As Chair of the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authority Committee, we will continue to work toward a more reliable, responsive, and more equitable system for all taxpayers.”
