Bergen County Activist Groups Announce ‘Count Every Vote’ Rally Wednesday in Teaneck

TEANECK —  Activists in Bergen County and around the country will unite to protect the results of the 2020 election and stop President Trump from attempting to throw the nation into a constitutional crisis. Organizers from eight grassroots groups plan to hold a joint rally in Teaneck on Wednesday.

“We’ve been marching and rallying for 4 years. We’ve been writing, calling and canvassing for 4 years. The time has come to restore our democracy and that cannot and will not happen until every vote is counted,” organizers with Indivisible NJ 5th District said.

The rally will take place at 4 p.m., Wednesday, November 4 in Teaneck. To sign up for information on the rally, including its final location, register at https://www.mobilize.us/ptr/event/357209/

The protest is part of “Protect the Results” (ProtectTheResults.com) a nationwide organizing effort to ensure Americans turn out en masse to push back against President Trump’s ongoing efforts to undermine confidence in the election.

In addition to Indivisible NJ 5th District, Glen Rock After the March, Ramsey PINS, Ridgewood Jolt, Teaneck Peace Vigil, Teaneck Women Together, Waldwick Progressives and Women for Progress are co-sponsoring the event.

Here is what group organizers had to say:

Glen Rock After the March: “We will not allow this President to render our elections irrelevant. Our coalition is strong and our voices will be heard.”

Ramsey PINS: “Our democracy depends on the integrity of our elections. Today, this is our refrain!”

Ridgewood Jolt: “This rally is necessary to warn that we will not be silent in the event that Americans are deprived of their vote due to judicial overstepping, deliberate mismanagement of our postal system, or other political intervention. This is how you protect Democracy. This is what flag loving Patriots do. Every vote must count or democracy dies.”

Teaneck Peace Vigil: “It’s urgent that we stand together to protect democracy. The threats from the Trump administration and other rightwing forces will be met around the country with non-violent resistance. Democracy must triumph!”

Teaneck Women Together: “We came together after the last presidential election to show a strong alternative vision of America. One of multiculturalism, where women’s voices are elevated. That’s the America we are fighting for, and today’s rally proves the people will protect the integrity of our vote to bring about that vision, one of inclusion and equity for all.”

Waldwick Progressives: “We have worked too hard to not cross the finish line. Everyone must be prepared to stand as a unified front while the final votes are collected and tabulated. Democracy is not a spectator sport.”

Women for Progress: “There is nothing more sacred in a democracy than ensuring that the will of the voter is honored. This can’t happen if we don’t count every vote. We must be prepared to defend our country.”
