BERGEN COUNTY LEGISLATORS WEINBERG, SARLO AND JOHNSON CONTINUE IN TOP LEADERSHIP POSTS

HACKENSACK – Bergen County Democratic Chairman Paul Juliano praised the selection today of three veteran Democratic state legislators representing districts in Bergen County to continue serving in top leadership posts for the new 219th Legislature, a two-year session that will begin in January 2020. Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (LD-37) was unanimously re-elected today by her colleagues in the Senate Democratic Majority. Senator Paul Sarlo (LD-36) will continue in his roles as Deputy Majority Leader and chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee. Additionally, Assemblyman Gordon Johnson (LD-37) was re-elected as Speaker Pro-Tempore by the members of the Assembly Democratic Majority Conference.

“Majority Leader Weinberg, Deputy Majority Leader Sarlo and Speaker Pro-Tempore Johnson have long been determined and strong leaders who stand up for our Democratic values and fight incredibly hard for the priorities of residents in their districts, in Bergen County, and throughout the state,” said Juliano. “Bergen County Democrats congratulate them along with Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin on their re-election as state legislative leaders. We are proud that our members will continue to play important roles as part of distinguished leadership teams and united caucuses working with our Senate President and Assembly Speaker to build a bright future for our families and to move New Jersey forward.”
