Berkeley Heights Endorses Joe Signorello for Senate
Today, Berkeley Heights Mayor Angie Devanney, Municipal Chair George Devanney, and Councilmembers Stephen Yellin and Alvaro Medeiros endorsed Joe Signorello for Senate.
“I am proud to endorse Joe Signorello for State Senate. As a fellow Mayor, Joe and I have worked
together during the pandemic for the betterment of our communities. Joe knows first hand the
challenges we face each day. I am confident if elected, Joe will be an excellent representative for
Berkeley Heights and all of the towns in the 21st legislative district,” said Mayor Angie Devanney.
“Berkeley Heights is proud to support our friend, Mayor Joe Signorello for Senate. As an elected
official, Mayor Signorello is the best candidate to challenge Jon Bramnick. Mayor Signorello’s
experience and track record of getting things done make him the best chance we have in flipping
this long held Republican seat to Democrat,” said Municipal Chairman George Devanney.
Councilman Yellin added, “Joe Signorello is a leader for the future. We both ran for office in 2018
and I got to see his tenacity and passion for public service first-hand. His proven track record of
leadership by example as Mayor, and his willingness to tackle tough challenges head- on, make him
far and away the best candidate to be our next State Senator.”
Berkeley Heights, an historically Republican town, elected three Democrats, Mayor Devanney and
Council members Yellin and Medeiros in 2018. The town is part of the demographic shift that has
helped turn the 21st legislative district from a safe republican district to a purple district.
“We need leaders who will represent all its residents and support policies because they are best
for the people, not best for the Republican Party (red) or Democratic Party (blue). In Berkeley
Heights, we ran on a message of including all people, regardless of party, that is being purple
(red+blue). I’m confident Joe will be a Senator who always does what is right for our district as
a whole,” concluded Councilman Medeiros.
With this latest endorsement Mayor Signorello has now received the endorsement of nine elected
officials in LD21. In addition to Berkeley Heights, Mayor Signorello received an endorsement from
Summit Councilman Greg Vartan and all five of the Roselle Park Democratic
Councilmembers.
