A BLACK LEADERSHIP CRITICAL COMMUNITY CONVERSATION SUMMIT ON SOCIAL EQUITY AND CANNABIS LEGALIZATION IN NJ

KEY BLACK NJ ORGANIZATIONS & POLITICAL LEADERS HOLD “CANNABIS LEGALIZATION & SOCIAL EQUITY IN NJ” ZOOM DISCUSSION ON “WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO THE BLACK COMMUNITY, SATURDAY, MAY 29, 2PM -5PM [EST]

The Capital City Area Black Caucus, NJ NAACP, African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, New Jersey Black Legislative Caucus, NJ 19 Black County Commissioners, Salvation & Social Justice – NJ, NJ CannaBusiness Association, Black Cannabis Equity Initiative and a host of other organization, faith leaders, businesses and social equity advocates are sponsoring a Cannabis Social Equity Black Leadership  Update and Information zoom event on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 2:00pm-5:00pm. The focus of this virtual event is “Cannabis Legalization & Social Equity in New Jersey-What Are The Benefits To The Black Community?” The purpose of this gathering is to bring together stakeholders[Elected Officials, industry leaders, businesses, black community organizations and advocates] from across New Jersey to discuss the cannabis legalization journey and share insights on social equity.

In addition, Capital City Area Black Caucus will hold a “Special NJ Social Equity Acknowledgement” recognizing Black Leaders and Black Organizations having made social equity a public policy and a value -added business priority in the Black community in New Jersey. Social Equity individual recognition will go to NJ Lobbyist Jeannine LaRue and Salvation & Social Justice CEO Rev. Dr. Charles Boyer. Social Equity Organizational recognition will go to NJ NAACP, African American Chamber of Commerce of NJ(AACCNJ), Salvation & Social Justice – NJ, NJ Black Legislative Caucus and the NJ 19 Black County Commissioners.

This cannabis legalization and social equity in NJ zoom discussion will include a “Fireside Chat” with national cannabis industry leaders on hot topic issues like accountability, access to capital, accounting, cannabis laws, expungement and a Social Equity Business Accountability Report Card and more. Further, there will be a NJ Black Leadership Roundtable Discussion with key NJ Black leaders from business, legislature, faith and social justice and a social equity panel discussion with Black cannabis businesses/owner-operators.

John Bailey, said, “this cannabis summit will be an opportunity to update and engage Black legislators, community leaders and concerned citizens around social equity. The Black community will be the central focus of social equity in NJ and it is important for Black leadership to be, if not on the same page, at least under the same tent on this cannabis legalization and social equity journey in the Garden State. This summit is a big step and a necessary part of that journey. Further, this is an opportunity for key legislators, industry and community leaders to discuss NJ cannabis hot topics as well as hear from top-notch national speakers and cannabis thought experts on this important issue.”
