Booker Statement on Passing of Congressman Elijah Cummings

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), released the following statement on the passing of U.S Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD):

“I’m profoundly saddened by the passing of my friend, colleague, and role model Congressman Cummings. He was a dedicated public servant who fought every day for the people of Baltimore and set the standard for moral leadership in our country. His love of country was evident as a defender of our democracy and a tireless advocate for freedom, equality, and justice. Congressman Cummings was a man of principle and courage and it was an honor and a privilege to serve alongside him in Congress. My condolences to his family, friends, staff, and admirers. May this American hero rest in peace.
