Booker Statement on Refugee Admissions Decision by Biden Administration

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement after the Biden Administration announced that it would keep the FY 2021 refugee admissions target at 15,000:

“The United States has always been a beacon of hope and opportunity for those fleeing persecution because of religion, race, nationality and more. We are witnessing the largest refugee crisis in history and have a solemn responsibility as a global leader to help those in need. We must do better.

“Resettling refugees is not just the right thing to do, it improves our country—creating more vibrant and diverse communities, prioritizing human rights, and setting an example for other nations. I urge President Biden to follow through on his promise to resettle more refugees.”
