Booker Statement on the Retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement:

“I offer my profound gratitude to Justice Breyer for his decades of service to the Supreme Court and to our country. Through his fidelity to the Constitution and the rule of law, he has never lost sight of the impact the Court has on people’s everyday lives, from the rights of women to make their own medical decisions, to protecting voting rights and the rights of workers to organize, to defending the principle of equal justice under the law, and more.

“The next Supreme Court justice should share Justice Breyer’s commitment to protecting and advancing the rights of all Americans. I look forward to learning who President Biden will nominate to fill this vacancy and to the Senate acting expeditiously to consider and confirm them.”
