Brian Varela Releases First TV Ad Telling His Story and How He’ll Fight to Dismantle Trump’s ICE

Morris County, NJ (April 28, 2026) – Today, Brian Varela’s campaign for Congress launched its first television ad of the Democratic primary. The ad, titled "They Remind Me," introduces Brian to Democratic primary voters through his story as the son of Colombian immigrants and his pledge to fiercely fight back against the horrors of the Trump administration's ICE crackdown.

"My parents came here from Colombia and built a life from nothing, and the families I see in our district every day remind me of them," said Brian Varela. "They are working, paying taxes, raising kids, and contributing to our communities. They do not deserve to live in fear of being snatched up on the way to work. I am running for Congress because Washington needs people who will say that out loud and who will actually do something about it."

The ad is backed by a six-figure buy running on cable, streaming, and digital across New Jersey's 7th Congressional District. It launches after a stretch of significant momentum for the campaign. Varela has earned more than 80 local endorsements across NJ-07, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, former DNC Chair Tom Perez and Make the Road Action, and enters the final weeks of the primary with more than $1.3 million in the bank.
