Burlco GOP Endorses Strong and Dynamic Slate of Candidates in Unanimous Vote

Mount Laurel, NJ – This morning, the Burlington County Republican Committee voted unanimously to endorse a strong and dynamic slate of candidates for state and county races, ready to take back control of the state legislature and break the toxic one-party rule plaguing Burlington County.

In the 8th Legislative District, following Senator Jean Stanfield’s announcement that she will not seek reelection, former Burlington County Freeholder and Southampton Township Committeeman Latham Tiver will head up the ticket for the State Senate seat. The two incumbent Assemblymen will once again team up to run for the State Assembly. Business owner and former Hammonton Councilman, Assemblyman Michael Torrissi, Jr. founded a transportation company in New Jersey that has expanded throughout the east coast. Lifelong public servant, Assemblyman Brandon Umba of Medford, is a volunteer firefighter and experienced township manager. This team will continue to fight in Trenton for the overburdened and overregulated families and businesses of New Jersey.

Former Democrat Mayor of Burlington City, Jim Fazzone, was nominated for State Senate in the 7th Legislative District. Fazzone switched parties in 2015 when his values no longer aligned with Democrats. Joining him on the ticket will be Moorestown resident Doug Dillon, a retired CWA member, and former Moorestown Township Zoning Board Member. Also running for Assembly is Cinnaminson resident Eileen Bleistine, a single mom of five children and a staunch advocate for education, personal responsibility, and parental rights. The LD7 slate is ready to take the fight to the entrenched Democrat incumbents who serve their own self-interest, not the people they represent.

At the meeting, the county committee also backed Bass River Mayor Deborah Buzby-Cope for Burlington County Clerk. The nod for county commissioners went to Alfonso Gambone, a defense attorney from Moorestown, and Medford resident, Larry Vernamonti, an optometrist who has practiced in Medford since 1979. They will look to break the one-party rule of the completely Democrat-controlled County Commissioner Board.

Old Bridge Township Mayor, Owen Henry, received the nod for the State Senate seat in the 12th Legislative District. Also on the ticket will be incumbent Assemblymen Rob Clifton and Alex Sauickie, who have proven records of holding the Murphy Administration’s feet to the fire on behalf of their constituents.

“Burlington County Republicans are ready to do our part in taking back the State Senate and General Assembly and breaking the toxic one-party rule in our county government,” said Burlington County Republican Committee Chairman Sean Earlen. “Our experienced and energized slate of candidates at the state, county, and local level will secure Republican victories up and down the ballot.”
