Burlington County continues to make emergency mortgage and utility help available

MOUNT HOLLY – The Burlington County Commissioners are reminding local homeowners that emergency mortgage and utility assistance is still available.

Substantial assistance has already been awarded to many Burlington County households through the Burlington County Mortgage and Utility Assistance Program and funding remains available for additional awards to households in need of assistance.

The program is funded with federal COVID-19 aid from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Income-eligible residents with documented financial hardships are eligible to receive up to 6 months of assistance for mortgage payments, utility bills or a combination of both.

“In Burlington County, we believe in providing compassionate support for those facing financial hardships, and this program is a proven difference-maker,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson, the liaison to the Department of Human Services. “It gives hope to vulnerable homeowners and keeps our communities stable by reducing foreclosures and vacancies.”

To be eligible, homeowners must reside at the property and meet household income limits set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested homeowners should submit a preliminary application online at www.tfaforms.com/4913684 .

Community Grants, Planning and Housing, a Cranberry-based firm specializing in affordable housing and home improvement programs and grants, is assisting the County with processing applications. Residents with questions can call a program representative at 609-642-9213.

Commissioner Deputy Director Tom Pullion encouraged Burlington County homeowner in need to check their eligibility and apply for the assistance.

“Everyone benefits when we help families in need remain in their homes, including their neighbors and fellow property taxpayers, so we continue to make assistance available and encourage those who need help to reach out and apply,” Pullion said.
