Burlington County Democratic Committee Selects Allison Eckel to fill Vacant County Commissioner Position

Eckel Sworn in by County Clerk Immediately After

Last evening, by an overwhelming voice vote, the Burlington County Democratic Committee selected Allison Eckel to fill the vacant County Commissioner seat left open by the appointment of the Honorable Linda Hynes to the Superior Court. The seat – first won by Democrats in 2019 by over 10,000 votes – was officially filled shortly after the meeting when the County Clerk administered the oath of office to Commissioner Eckel.

“As a party, we are thrilled to have someone with Commissioner Eckel’s talents and experience join our county commissioner board. We know that she will immediately get to work serving the residents of Burlington County, and I am appreciative of the overwhelming support from our County Committee in selecting Commissioner Eckel to fill this vacancy” said Burlington County Chairman Joe Andl.

Eckel, who previously served on the Lenape Regional Board of Education, lives with her family in Medford and has spent years working and volunteering for local youth-based organizations. “I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Burlington County Democrats for this opportunity to serve. As a County Commissioner I am excited to work with my colleagues in continuing to keep Burlington County as the County with the lowest cost per taxpayer in the entire state, while giving back to the community I call home. I couldn’t be more excited to get to work,” the newly sworn-in Commissioner Eckel said.
