Burlington County Women’s Advisory Council seeking nominations for Outstanding Women Awards

MOUNT HOLLY – Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson and Commissioner Allison Eckel announced that the nominations for the 2023 Outstanding Women of Burlington County Awards are now open.

The Commissioners and the Burlington County Women’s Advisory Council will honor the outstanding contributions and leadership of women from the county, and, new this year, will recognize those excelling in science, technology, engineering and math.

Applications will be accepted until close of business on Monday, June 12.

The Council is looking for women who have made significant contributions in their chosen field and who have demonstrated their support for women in our communities. The nominees may have acted as mentors, role models or advocates for other women.

“From Alice Paul to Elizabeth White, and Charity Still, Burlington County has been blessed with great women leaders and achievers and our Women’s Advisory Council is excited to continue our tradition of recognizing women for their leadership and service,” said Hopson, who is a liaison to the Women’s Advisory Council.

To be eligible for an award, nominees must have lived or worked in Burlington County for at least the last year.

The awards are sponsored by the Women’s Advisory Council and the Burlington County Board of Commissioners.

This year will also feature a new category recognizing a woman who is excelling in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). By recognizing achievement in these fields, the Commissioners and Women’s Council hope to encourage more women to pursue STEM careers.

The other categories are community service and volunteerism, diversity/inclusion, military or veterans service, education/mentorship, first responder, government, health care and law/law enforcement.

“Women in our county have excelled in every field and we’ve made it our mission to celebrate them and their achievements,” said Burlington County Commissioner Allison Eckel, who is also a liaison to the Women’s Advisory Council. “By honoring women achievers and their accomplishments we hope to inspire more women to take on leadership roles and reach for even more.”
