Burzichelli on NJ Legislature’s First-Ever Remote Committee Hearing
Panel Unanimously Approves Eight COVID-19 Relief Measures
(TRENTON) – The Assembly Appropriations Committee conducted the first remote committee hearing in the history of the New Jersey Legislature Monday. The telephonic hearing includes testimony called in by stakeholders. Assemblyman John Burzichelli (D-Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem) issued the following statement:
“While I would much prefer that our committees meet in-person and receive testimony face-to-face, I understand that is not possible during the current public health crisis. We cannot and will not allow the pandemic to stop us from doing the people’s work.
“Today’s Assembly Appropriations Committee hearing was professional, collegial, and absolutely necessary as the legislature continues to move bills that will offer relief to New Jersey residents and businesses struggling as a result of COVID-19.
“I’m proud to have chaired the first remote committee in our state’s history. We will continue to adapt as necessary to ensure we can do the important work we were elected to do on behalf of the nine million people who call the Garden State home.”
