Caba Will Bring ‘Professionalism & Efficiency’ to Perth Amboy City Hall

PERTH AMBOY, NJ – (Dec. 4, 2020) – Mayoral candidate Helmin J. Caba vowed today to bring professionalism and efficiency to City Hall, ending the “atmosphere of instability and turbulence” created over the past dozen years.

“As mayor, I will hire qualified professionals to efficiently manage city services and finances. My Administration will ensure our professional staff and all city employees are treated with dignity in the workplace,” said Caba, the top choice for mayor in Dec. 15’s runoff election.

“Sadly, our city has seen seven Business Administrators come and go during the 12 years Wilda Diaz has held office. Two were improperly fired, including our most recent Business Administrator who was abruptly terminated in July without a valid explanation,” Caba said.

“Five city Law Directors have also come and gone. Appointments get made and jobs get created for the mayor’s political allies, all without the City Council’s consent or even notifying the Council as a courtesy,” Councilman Caba said. “This atmosphere of instability and turbulence must end.”

“My Administration will use a business-like approach to put Perth Amboy on a path to progress,” said Caba, the city’s Democratic chairman. “Cooperation is the key to success. My Administration will consult with the City Council for advice during the decision-making process. We must work together.”

Caba and the “2020 Vision for Perth Amboy” Team – running mates Rose B. Morales and Bienvenido “BJ” Torres Jr. – have detailed plans to restore efficiency to City Hall that includes: Revamping the city’s hiring practices; requesting a state audit of city finances to correct deficiencies; and using “zero-based” budget practices to eliminate wasteful spending.
