CAIR-NJ Offers Condolences on Passing of Jersey City Councilman Michael Yun
(SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ, 3/11/2020) – The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) today offered its condolences to Jersey City Councilman Michael Yun’s Family and Friends.
Yun died yesterday of complications from coronavirus infection. The Ward D councilman was hospitalized with the infectious disease for nearly two weeks after going to Jersey City Medical Center with a fever and difficulty breathing on March 24.

In a statement, CAIR-NJ Executive Director Selaedin Maksut said:
“It is with a heavy heart that I offer my condolences to the family and friends of Councilman Michael Yun. Someone like Councilman Yun, who stood firm for justice and equality, will never be forgotten.
“With the alarming rise in xenophobia, Islamophobia and racism, Councilman Yun consistently offered his supporter and friendship to the Muslim community, and for that we thank him and his family, and pray for their well-being.”
